Mild Quake Jars Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA — A small earthquake shook the Santa Barbara area early today, but most of the city slept through it, authorities said. The 1:04 a.m. temblor measured 3.1 on the Richter scale and was centered about eight miles southwest of Santa Barbara. Another early morning quake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale hit the area Thursday but caused no damage.
