Most of Reggie Jackson’s remarks, as quoted by Scott Ostler, were unknowledgeable, reckless and illogical, and consequently counter-productive. Once again this proves that we do need to have more ballplayers who were directly involved with drugs come out of the closet and intelligently inform the nation’s youth of the dangers of drug abuse. Not “stay quiet, stay hidden,” as Reggie would have it.
Withholding information is not the way to educate anyone.
