Anaheim : City Plans to Pull Out of Lobbying Consortium

Citing duplication of lobbying services, city officials on Tuesday pulled out of a consortium with Garden Grove, La Habra and Santa Ana, which has the same Washington representative.
Effective Jan. 1, Anaheim no longer will be represented by the National Center for Municipal Development Inc. William A. Sell, the city’s intergovernmental relations officer, said the efforts made by that group duplicate those of the League of California Cities as well as Anaheim’s other contract lobbyists, Michael J. Arnold & Associates in Sacramento and E. Del Smith & Co. in Washington.
The goals of the lobbyists, Sell said, include helping the city get federal funding and keeping officials informed of proposed legislation that would affect the city.
The move to cancel services with Municipal Development will save the city about $5,800 a year, he said.
