The Irvine Co. has given $100,000 to underwrite the Southern California premiere showing of a Wayne Thiebaud retrospective that opens Dec. 12 at the Newport Harbor Art Museum.
The gift was announced this week by Thomas Nielsen, Irvine Co. president, and Ray Johnson, museum board president. The Thiebaud show, organized by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, will run through Feb. 16 at the Newport Beach museum.
Last year the Irvine Co. gave $100,000 to help underwrite two Newport Harbor exhibitions that were a part of the Olympic Arts Festival.
