A Newhall man was gravely wounded at his home early Thursday when another man stabbed him several times with a butcher knife, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The victim, David Pena, believed to be in his 20s, was in critical but stable condition at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, said acting Sgt. Robert Bullard.
Pena’s throat was slashed and he was stabbed several times in the back, deputies said.
Officers arrested 18-year-old Telmo Estrada of Newhall a short time later on suspicion of attempted murder.
The knifing took place about 5:30 a.m. at Pena’s house in the 22700 block of 14th Street, deputies said. They said the victim and suspect apparently knew each other and had argued.
