Carbide Chief Asked to Testify

BHOPAL, India — Indian officials today asked Warren Anderson, chairman of Union Carbide Corp., to testify before a judicial commission investigating the Bhopal gas leak that killed more than 2,000 people in 1984.
The request came one day after the state government officially accused Union Carbide, based in Danbury, Conn., of responsibility for the gas leak at its Bhopal pesticide plant Dec. 3, 1984.
