Meeting Slated on Historic Building Study

A public meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday at the mid-point of a study of the seismic upgrading of historic buildings in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Conservancy, which is conducting the study jointly with the Community Redevelopment Agency.

The study, which began in October and will be completed in February, examines structural and architectural methods for upgrading selected historic buildings that are required by city ordinance to be demolished or structurally reinforced. It is paid for by a critical-issues grant partially funded by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Study consultants are John Kariotes, structural engineer; Barrio Planners, architects, and Ron Miller, financial analyst. The meeting will be held in the sixth floor auditorium of the Design Center, 433 S. Spring St. Reservations are recommended and may be made with the conservancy.
