Garden Grove : Tax Protester Creech Gets 90 Days in Prison
- Share via
Chief U.S. District Judge Manuel Real on Monday ordered Orange County tax protester Thomas Pat Creech to serve 90 days in federal prison on contempt of court charges. Creech has been a leader of Your Heritage Protection Assn., a national anti-tax group.
Creech, who was ordered to begin serving the sentence immediately, was previously convicted of violating a federal court order that prohibited him from filing any lawsuits against government employees. However, last August he filed a lawsuit against a federal judge and several Internal Revenue Service agents. That suit prompted the U.S. attorney’s office to file the contempt charges.
Last year, Creech was sentenced to six months in prison for breaking into the group’s former headquarters in Garden Grove after the IRS took possession of the property.
