Lottery Funds

The arrival of state lottery money to the California schools should be a challenge for creative use, despite the questionable morality of its source.
A simple solution that would benefit students and teachers alike would be to reduce class size. Creative alternatives for overcrowded facilities would be to add teachers to give individualized teachng within the classroom to those who need it. A source for these added teachers might be teachers willing to work part-time or retired teachers. The flexibility of this usage would make it possible to react more easily to changes of funding in the future.
I believe time--time to teach and to spend with individual students--is a critical need for every child, and some of it could be provided with this program.
