St. Joseph 1, Thousand Oaks 0--St. Joseph pitcher Lisa Fernandez tossed a one-hitter and struck out nine, while her Thousand Oaks counterpart, Molly Moore, allowed just three hits but came up short of the win in the Southern Section 4-A playoff game.
Andrea Lipiccolo scored the only run of the game in the second inning when she was brought home on a double by her sister, Gina. Fernandez did the rest, pitching a no-hitter until Shannon Dyckes made it to first in the sixth inning on an infield single. Thousand Oaks ended the season at 17-9.
Righetti 1, Newbury Park 0 (8 innings)--Righetti pitcher Heather Compton won the pitching duel, striking out 15 in the three-hit effort while allowing no walks in the Southern Section 4-A playoff game. Newbury Park pitcher Debbie Dickmann also had a good day, striking out nine on a four-hitter with one walk.
Robin Mitchell scored the only run of the game on an error in the eighth inning with two outs.
Newbury Park’s Jennifer Greenbaum had two hits, and Robin Blair had the other. Newbury Park, which finished first in Marmonte League, ended the season at 21-7.
