Datapower Cites Slump, Posts Loss for Fiscal 1986

Blaming the continuing slump in the computer industry, Datapower Inc., a Santa Ana manufacturer of power supplies for computers, reported a $4.2-million loss for its fiscal 1986, compared to a year-earlier loss of $968,000.
The company posted revenue of $7 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, down 54% from the $15 million recorded in 1985.
Datapower lost $3.3 million in the fourth quarter, compared to the year-ago loss of $1.6 million. The loss for the 1986 fourth quarter included a $1-million reserve for excess inventory. Fourth-quarter revenue was $1.8 million, down 38% from the $2.9 million posted during the year-ago quarter.
