Driver of ‘Gypsy’ Cab Given 15 Months in Jail

The driver of a so-called “gypsy” taxi was sentenced Thursday to 15 months in County Jail, the stiffest jail term ever imposed for illegally operating a cab at Los Angeles International Airport.
Robert Bonseigneur, 32, was sentenced in West Los Angeles Municipal Court after pleading no contest to one count of driving with a suspended or revoked license and one count of unlawfully operating a vehicle for hire at the airport, both misdemeanors.
The city attorney’s office said it was the longest term ever handed down in its 180 prosecutions of so-called gypsy taxi drivers who operate without city licenses.
