Clear Skies and Some Wind to Cap Christmas Weekend

Fair weather with a few high clouds and some winds in mountain and desert areas are in store for Southern California during what should be a pleasant Christmas weekend, the National Weather Service said Thursday.
While rainy weather was predicted for the far northern reaches of the state, mostly clear skies and high temperatures ranging from the mid-60s to the mid-70s were expected in the Los Angeles area and the lower deserts.
Mountain highs were predicted to range from the upper 40s to the mid-50s and highs in the upper 50s and mid-60s were forecast for the upper deserts.
The Weather Service said lows would be in the upper 40s to the low 50s along the beaches, upper 40s in downtown Los Angeles, upper 30s to low 40s in the inland valleys, mid-30s to mid-40s in the low deserts, mid-20s to mid-30s in the high deserts and as low as 20 in the mountains.
Northeast winds up to 20 m.p.h. were forecast below passes and canyons and in the deserts.
The week between Christmas and New Year’s is usually fair in Southern California.
