A $3.8-million construction project to improve sidewalks and install landscaped medians along Brand Boulevard at the northern end of the downtown redevelopment area is scheduled to begin Jan. 19, according to the contractor.
Officials of Terrain Inc., a Glendale firm that was awarded the job by the Glendale City Council, said construction along the boulevard from Lexington Drive to Arden Avenue north of the Ventura Freeway will continue for 10 months and be completed before the 1987 Christmas shopping season begins. City traffic engineers have warned that construction could cause congestion.
The improvements, similar to those completed in 1979 on a lower stretch of Brand, will include installation of brick and tile sidewalks, landscaping and median parkway islands.
