Commerce : Card Club Fingerprints
Applicants seeking work at the California Commerce Club must be fingerprinted under an emergency ordinance unanimously passed by the City Council.
Monday’s action brings the Commerce card club into line with clubs in other cities in the southeast part of Los Angeles County, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Capt. Lynn Poos.
Previously, shareholders in the Commerce Club, but not employees, were required to be fingerprinted for background checks, Poos said. The ordinance will not affect current employees.
“It’s to make sure there aren’t any criminals working down there,” said interim City Administrator Robert Williams.
