The World : Peru Rebels Bomb Offices
Leftist guerrillas in Peru bombed a 12-story building housing the Austrian Embassy, Eastern Airlines and offices of the World Bank and the United Nations, knocking out windows on the first five floors of one side of the Lima building, police said. Guerrillas also set fire to at least four city buses, with one rebel killed and a policeman wounded in a gun battle following one of those attacks, police reported. The pro-Cuba Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement claimed responsibility for the attacks. Tupac Amaru has recently launched assaults on state-owned firms that have raised prices for public services.
