Quarterback Joe Montana said he will return to the San Francisco 49ers next season. There had been speculation he might retire after his injuries in 1986.
Montana, who made a rapid recovery after major back surgery in midseason, was knocked unconscious near the end of the first half in last Sunday’s 49-3 playoff loss to the New York Giants.
