Greece signed a $940 million agreement with General Dynamics Corp. and General Electric to buy 40 F-16 jet fighters after almost three years of negotiations. The Defense Ministry in Athens said that the first four planes will arrive in Greece in January, 1989, and delivery will continue through October, 1989. Economy Minister Costas Simitis said the planes will be paid for by 1990 through military credits from the U.S. government.
