The Austria-based Alban Berg Quartet has been forced to cancel its 15-date U.S. tour, which included concerts at Beckman Auditorium, Caltech, on Feb. 22 and the Arnold Schoenberg Institute, USC, Feb. 25. According to a spokeswoman for Coleman Concerts, sponsors of the Caltech event, cellist Valentin Erben is suffering from tendinitis.
The Borodin Trio will replace the Berg at Caltech, playing piano trios by Haydn, Smetana and Ravel. No replacement will be made for the Schoenberg Institute date.
