Seven teen-age girls, most of them Pasadena City College students, were rescued a quarter of a mile outside Newport Beach Harbor about 20 minutes after their power boat capsized. The accident might easily have had a fatal result if George and Suzanne Stokes of Huntington Beach had not spotted the girls from their sailboat, authorities said. Four of the girls were found clinging to the 17-foot fiberglass outboard whaler, which had been swamped by an ocean swell, while the other three were swimming in the 57-degree water. None of the girls was hurt, and all were released to their parents.
