Laredo, Tex., and Lake Havasu City, Ariz., are America’s hot spots, a new study reports. And the chilliest place in the nation--for the second straight year--is Gunnison, Colo. The report on the warmest and coldest places in the 48 contiguous states is being published in the February edition of Weatherwise, a magazine specializing in weather and climate studies. David H. Hickcox of Ohio Wesleyan University said that Gunnison recorded the nation’s record low 81 separate times in 1986. Laredo and Lake Havasu City had 34 daily highs each.
