Inglewood Teachers OK 3-Year Contract
Almost unanimously, Inglewood teachers Thursday approved a new three-year contract giving them a 10% raise retroactive to the beginning of the school year and a 4% increase in 1987-88. The Inglewood Teachers Assn. and the school board will negotiate the third-year increase later.
The teachers, who voted 491 to 5 for the new pact, had staged two work stoppages in February over the salary dispute after being without a contract since June 30.
The school board had offered a 7% raise the first year, with subsequent raises to be negotiated, but voted on March 9 to raise the offer.
