Community College Roundup : Ganz Wins in Singles and Doubles as Orange Coast Defeats Saddleback

Chris Ganz, Orange Coast College’s No. 1 singles player, defeated Saddleback’s Grant Hein, 6-2, 6-2, Thursday and then teamed with John Gabriel to defeat Hein and John Anderson, 7-5, 6-4, in doubles to help the Pirates defeat the Gauchos, 6-3, in an Orange Empire Conference tennis match at Saddleback College.

Orange Coast is 4-0 in conference. Saddleback is 3-1.

Rancho Santiago 6, Cypress 3--The Dons won five of six singles matches to clinch the victory over the Chargers before doubles play began at Cypress College. No. 1 singles player Larry Baril led the way with a 6-2, 7-6 victory over Steve Flaat. Rancho Santiago is 2-2 and Cypress is 1-3.

In Orange Empire women’s action:

Rancho Santiago 6, Citrus 3--Michelle Pham defeated Suzanne Sherrill, 6-0, 6-1, in singles play to help the Dons defeat the Owls at Rancho Santiago College. The Dons are 2-2, 4-4.
