Darryl Strawberry of the New York Mets indicated that he is undecided about whether to pay fines totaling $1,500 that were levied by Manager Davey Johnson.
Strawberry, currently in separation proceedings with his wife, Lisa, missed Saturday’s scheduled workout because of “personal reasons.” Johnson fined him $500.
When Strawberry disputed the fine and would not practice Sunday, the manager told him to leave and fined him another $1,000.
He was back in right field Monday for the Mets’ exhibition game against the Philadelphia Phillies in St. Petersburg, Fla., but was upset about the additional $1,000 fine.
He refused to comment.
