Tom Redington, who hit .442 with 10 home runs and 42 runs batted in last season to help the Esperanza High School baseball team win the Southern Section 4-A championship, signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to attend the University of Arizona.
Redington, a 6-foot 1-inch, 190-pound senior shortstop, has hit five home runs this season to bring his career total to 18, four shy of the Southern Section career record set by Valencia’s Andy Ruscitto from 1984-86.
Redington chose Arizona, the defending College World Series champion, over USC, UCLA and Miami.
