College Tennis : UC Irvine Sends UCSB to 7-2 Loss

UC Irvine won five of six singles matches and went on to defeat UC Santa Barbara, 7-2, Sunday in a nonconference tennis match at Santa Barbara.
Trevor Kronemann defeated Jeff Greenwald, 6-3, 6-3, and Mike Cadigan defeated Scott Morse, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6, for the Anteaters (22-19), who are ranked 17th in the nation.
In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. men’s tennis:
Chapman 7, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 2--The Panthers (11-0, 19-8) clinched the CCAA championship with a victory over the Mustangs, the defending NCAA Division II national champions, at San Luis Obispo.
Chapman’s No. 1 singles player, Miles Walker, defeated Mike Giusto, 6-4, 7-5, and No. 2 Olivier Amerlink defeated Rod Gabuya, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, to lead Chapman.
The Panthers, ranked No. 1 in the nation, were the 1986 NCAA Division II runners-up to the Mustangs, who are ranked fifth in the nation.
