JERUSALEM — Israeli officials said Wednesday, on the eve of a trip to Africa by Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir, that they expect more African countries to follow Togo’s example and renew official ties with the Jewish state.

“We are in contact with some other African nations but for obvious reasons, we will not spell out their names now,” he told reporters.
