The purse for the 1987 Haskell Invitational Aug. 1 at Monmouth Park, shaping up as rematch of the Belmont Stakes between Bet Twice and Alysheba, has been raised to $500,000, General Manager Hal Handel of the Oceanport, N.J., track announced.
The 1 1/8-mile Haskell was originally to have a $300,000 purse.
