Gone West, who finished sixth in the Belmont Stakes June 6, came back for an easy wire-to-wire victory in the $230,400 Dwyer Stakes at Belmont Park, the third win in the last six years of the race for trainer Woody Stephens.
Gone West covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:48 2/5 and paid $4.20, $2.60 and $2.10 as the favorite. Pledge Card, coupled in the wagering with Jazzing Around, finished second under Angel Cordero and paid $3.20 and $2.10. Polish Navy paid $2.20 for third.
