Daniel Beckon, a leading Canadian jockey who reportedly failed a random drug test earlier in the week, died of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.
The Ontario Provincial Police said in a brief statement that Beckon, 36, died Thursday. Police did not say outright that Beckon, who rode about 1,500 winners in his career, killed himself but said, “No foul play is suspected.”
