Jeff Tumin knows how to bow out with a bang.
Just a month after his Sylmar High softball team ended El Camino Real’s 73-game winning streak with a 13-4 victory last month to win the the City Section 4-A title, Tumin has resigned, saying he intends to pursue other interests.
Sylmar was 15-4 this season and the championship was the school’s first since 1973. The Spartans pounded El Camino Real for 16 hits in the final.
Tumin will continue to teach English at Sylmar. No successor has been named.
