Pomona : New Cal Poly Pomona Chief

James Bell, vice president for student affairs at Cal Poly Pomona, has been named acting president during the six-month absence of President Hugh O. La Bounty.
La Bounty is on sabbatical leave and is touring Europe and the Middle East, studying Arabian horses. He will return next January.
Bell has has been on the Cal Poly faculty since 1968, serving as track coach, associate dean for the School of Arts, director of black studies and as special assistant to the vice president for academic affairs.
