Greg LeMond, last year’s winner of the Tour de France bicycle race whose season was shattered by a hunting accident and an appendectomy, says he is quitting his French cycling team. He also said that he will resume training next week and plans to race at the World Championships in September.
LeMond, who became the first American to win the world’s most prestigious cycling event in 1986, said he had received several offers to join other European teams, and is leaning toward the Dutch team.
