Italy’s Gianfranco Rosi upset titleholder Lupe Aquino in Perugia, Italy, to take the World Boxing Council super-welterweight title on a unanimous 12-round decision.
Rosi, 30, led, 115-114, on the scorecards of American judge Steve Smoger and British judge Adrian Morgan. A third judge, Larry O’Connor of Britain, had Rosi ahead, 118-113.
He became the 15th Italian boxer to win a world title.
