Jet Strikes Bird, Lands Safely Despite Power Loss

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A Braniff Airways 727 bound for the Bahamas turned back after hitting a bird and losing power in one of its three engines. Flight 9019, carrying 120 passengers, returned safely to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport shortly after takeoff Saturday, an airport spokesman said. No injuries were reported.
