American City Business Journals said it was no longer for sale, but would shed eight unprofitable weeklies--about a fourth of the chain--to shore up its ailing financial position. The Kansas City-based company it has agreed to sell the Westchester Business Journal in New York and the Southern Connecticut Business Journal for $500,000 in cash. It also authorized the sale of its’ business journals in Hartford, Conn., Rochester, N.Y., and Richmond, Va., and accepted an offer to sell its 50% interest in two St. Louis legal papers, to their co-owner, Capital Cities/ABC Inc., for $1 million.
