American Ecology said its net income in the fourth quarter ending Dec. 31 tripled to $2.1 million, or 73 cents a share, from $700,000, or 23 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue rose 42% from the year-earlier quarter, to $22 million from $15.5 million.
The Calabasas waste-management company attributed the results to increased disposal by its customers of low-level radioactive waste at American Ecology’s sites.
For all of 1987, American Ecology’s earnings rose 44%, to $4.6 million, or $1.56 a share, from $3.2 million, or $1.10 a share. Revenue climbed to $68.1 million, a 42% increase from $47.9 million in 1986.
