Universal Studios plans to put on more shows by Mexican and other Latin American entertainers to attract Latino visitors, according to its spokesman in Mexico City. The decision, said Universal’s Guillermo Lara, stemmed from performances by Mexican pop stars Rocio Banquelis, Yuri and the female trio Pandora, which all had good results. “Since last year, a major goal of the complex was to increase its range of attractions by beginning to promote Mexican entertainers, mostly singers, in our leisure center,” Lara said. He noted that Universal also organized a festival of mariachi musicians featuring the Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, which is one of the most popular groups here and abroad. He said the festival would be repeated this year.
