Tax Support

Presidential candidates and the Olympic athletes go for the gold every four years. The latter are filled with excitement and competition and the former are permeated with mudslinging and false promises.
Question: Which of the above are supported by our government? You guessed it, the candidates. When taxpayers check that box on their tax forms to donate a dollar for matching funds, they only contribute to this insane practice.
I believe the American people, if given the opportunity, would donate that dollar to train our inspired young men and women. At least we would have comfort in knowing the money was well spent. Any savvy politicians care to wrestle with this one?
