Rumors that OPEC oil was being sold at a discount sent crude oil futures prices tumbling. On the New York Mercantile Exchange, crude oil for April delivery settled at $15.72 per 42-gallon barrel, down 29 cents from Monday. Wholesale heating oil for April delivery slipped 1.04 cents to 43.47 cents a gallon and wholesale gasoline fell 0.93 cent to 45.29 cents a gallon.
