An additional 500,000 metric tons of subsidized U.S. wheat has been sold to the Soviet Union, the Agriculture Department said. The sale, equal to about 18.3 million bushels, was handled by Continental Grain Co., 100,000 tons; Cargill Inc., 375,000 tons, and Mitsui Grain Corp., 25,000 tons. At recent prices averaging $2.75 a bushel, the wheat would have a farm value of about $50 million.
