Britain’s biggest aircraft manufacturer will make an exclusive bid for the state-owned car maker Rover Group PLC in an effort to save it from the threat of foreign takeover, the government announced. Trade Minister Lord Young said British Aerospace has been given until the end of April to negotiate terms to buy the government’s 99.8% stake in Rover without competition from any other prospective buyer.
