Beverle A. Houston; Film Scholar

Beverle A. Houston, 52, professor of critical studies at the USC School of Cinema-Television and respected film scholar. She directed the school’s critical studies division from 1982 until 1986. Before going to USC, she had taught English and film at Pitzer College in Claremont and at Cal State Northridge. She was the author of several books on film and was a member of the educational advisory board of the American Film Institute and the executive council of the Society for Cinema Studies.
