A Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputy has been placed on administrative leave and could face criminal charges stemming from an alleged “date rape.” The deputy, Stanley Scott, 28, was arrested after a woman contacted San Jose police and said Scott had raped her in her apartment. The woman, 40, told investigators she met Scott in a bar and the two went to her apartment, where he sexually assaulted her. The woman said she and Scott did not know each other before they met. An internal investigation was under way, a sheriff’s spokesman said. Additionally, the district attorney’s office is considering filing formal charges.
