The State : Big Winner Gets Prison
A San Diego man who won $1 million two years ago in the Lottery’s Big Spin has been sentenced to two years in prison for shoplifting five bottles of cologne. Terry Garrett, 40, an admitted heroin addict, was also fined $500 by San Diego Municipal Judge Janet Kintner who noted his numerous drug convictions. Garrett, who according to his lawyer became addicted to drugs while fighting in Vietnam, receives $40,000 a year from his lottery winnings.
