NBC’s TV Coverage Has Sad Ring to It

With hundreds of the world’s greatest athletes exhibiting their wonderful skills in so many interesting and different Olympic events, which event did NBC choose to show over and over again (on Sept. 22)? A defeated Korean boxer sitting in the ring, with NBC’s announcer repeatedly reminding us how the boxer was going for the ring-sitting record.
In fact, the only significant record set Wednesday was for the greatest amount of precious TV time devoted to the Olympics’ least important event. The winner, with a world record: NBC.
