I have just been watching KTLA’s benighted presentation of Terry Gilliam’s “Brazil,” a film I previously had seen some 14 times. However, this 15th viewing offered no sense of deja vu; this was a different film . . . a lesser film . . . a travesty! Even in its whole state, with its Orwellian and Walter Mittyish themes in tact, this wonderfully brilliant film was never fully comprehensible to the more plebeian sect, so I can only imagine the absolute confusion created by this Cliff’s Notes version. And you just know it was some Philistine with a fancy title and a three-piece suit who decided the viewing public would be too stupid to know the difference. Nay, big shot . . . guess again!
