In 1988, 69 deaths in Orange County were attributed to heroin. Ages of the victims ranged from 19 to 63, with 84% being males. Of the total deaths, 51% had been drinking and 53% had used heroin in combination with cocaine, a process known as “speed-balling.” Here’s the trend in heroin deaths since 1973.
