LSI Logic Chairman to Undergo Surgery

Wilfred Corrigan, chairman and chief executive of LSI Logic Corp., Milpitas, has taken a leave of absence to undergo heart bypass surgery.
Corrigan created a new office of the chief executive to run the custom computer chip company in his absence, consisting of himself and George Wells, president and chief operating officer.
Corrigan, 51, said he will undergo surgery in April and could return to the company within 12 weeks. He said he expects to participate in management decisions while he is recuperating.
