The body of a 42-year-old Canoga Park woman who had been hit over the head with a blunt instrument was found in her home by a friend, authorities said Monday.
Claude Boucher, a supervisor with the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, said the woman, who was not identified pending notification of relatives, died of “blunt force trauma to the head.”
The killing occurred Sunday or early Monday, said Detective Patrick Conmay of the Los Angeles Police Department. The woman’s body was discovered by a male friend who entered the home in the 6500 block of Comanche Avenue at about 11:30 a.m. to look for her, Conmay said.
Conmay would not say whether there had been a forced entry into the home or whether it had been burglarized.
Boucher said an autopsy is scheduled today.
